I can remember reading my favorite fashion magazine and being in awe of a Byron Lars collection. His early collections mixed menswear detailing and classic styling into a beautiful and unique piece to compliment a womanís body. His† exceptional creativity and his ability to find inspiration in everything, soon made him the darling of 7th avenue. His designs had the major retailers clamoring to place orders.
After a licensing deal went horribly wrong, Lars was forced to quit his own business. He didnít stay away for long. He returned more focused and determined to do what he loved his way. He designed a series of African-American† Barbies in that signature Byron Lars style. The Barbies were a big hit, but he missed designing for real women. In 2001 he decided to start another fashion label Byron Lars Beauty Mark. Beauty Mark concept started from his love and signature success of the tailored shirt. Beauty Mark has evolved into so much more cuteness!
Whether heís designing the most fabulous Barbieís that I have ever seen or putting his signature style to his new label Byron Lars Beauty Mark, he is a talented designer to continue watch.
