Iíve always had been fascinated with the Harlem Renaissance. There is something about the creative energy that was flowing through the city at the time that makes me wish that I had been a part of it. Maybe it was the anticipation of a new found freedom that African Americans felt as they migrated from the South. Or it could have been the hope of change for the future. whatever it was, Harlem was on fire with creativity and style.† It was the best time in Literature from Zora Neale Hurston, Langton Hughes and W.E.B Dubois and the music from Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington. It was an exciting time and a time filled with change, challenges and disappointments. It is a remarkable and exciting part of our history.
The style was undeniable and I am very envious of it today. Not only did these wonderful artist have great style, but everyday people had great style to swoon over. I found some amazing pictures of women I love from that era with great style. If you donít know anything about this era I encourage you to do some research. I also encourage you to read some of the great literary works and listen to the music. †I promise you wonít be disappointed.
Enjoy! and have a great stylish week-end.
